Watertown CT

Watertown CTlies northwest of Waterbury CT and is one of the suburbs that comprise the Greater Waterbury CT area. Watertown CT consists of two distinct areas: Watertown proper, which occupies the north and western areas of Watertown, and the Oakville area, which is located at the southeastern corner of Watertown CT.

Seven condominium complexes dot the Watertown/Oakville landscape: Artillery Hill, located on Cannon Ridge Drive; Brookview Village, located at 170 Westbury Park Road; Highgate, located at 245 Cherry Avenue; Reflections, located at 166 Ice House Road; Watertown Crossing, located at 37 Oak Street; Watertown Old Farms, located at 319 Thomaston Road, and Westview Village, located at 1260 Buckingham Avenue and 1203 Winslow Drive.

The Oakville area has an assortment of both single and multi-family homes, while Watertown proper is overwhelmingly populated with single family homes. There are several older developments scattered throughout Watertown – Georgetown Dr., Mount Fair, Winding Brook Farm, Apple Hill, Deer Run, Lake Winnemaug, Pond View, Oak Circle, and Concord – as well as several new developments in the Wheeler Farm-Bayview Circle-Litchfield Road area and Woodbury Road.

Watertown/Oakville area residents with school-age children are served by Polk Elementary School, located at 437 Buckingham Street; Trumbull Primary Elementary School, located at 779 Buckingham Street; Judson Elementary School, located at 124 Hamilton Lane; Swift Middle School, located at 250 Colonial Street; and Watertown High School, located at 324 French Street. There are two private schools in Watertown - St. John’s School, located at 700 Main Street in Watertown, and The Taft School, located at 110 Woodbury Road.

There are several recreational venues in Watertown, including boating on Lake Winnemaug, golfing at the Watertown Golf Club, located at 246 Guernseytown Road and Crestbrook Golf Course, located at 846 Northfield Road. Deland Field, located on Echo Lake Road, is used for baseball games, and then there are three other parks in Watertown – Sylvan Lake Park, located on Frost Bridge Road; Echo Lake Park, located on Ice House Road; and Veteran’s Memorial Park, located at 570 Nova Scotia Hill Road. Veteran’s Memorial Park is the site of the annual Watertown Fall Festival.
